Justin Li is an artist and social scientist.
His painting practice examines themes of creation and destruction, diasporic visual cultures, and moments of catharsis. Through his artwork, Justin seeks to build a personal archive of symbols and imagery that convey stories of humans and their relationships with rituals and processions, grief, political institutions, digital media, and censorship.
Justin’s research interests include the American justice system and mass incarceration, astronomy, and PK-12 education. He is based in Rhode Island and enjoys learning about sustainable urban planning, climate change, healthcare policy, and current events.
